Adobe® Flash® Media Live Encoder 3

Adobe® Flash® Media Live Encoder 3 live audio and video capture software is a media encoder that streams audio and video in real time to Flash Media Server. When high-quality streaming is your priority, Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 can help you broadcast live events and around-the-clock broadcasting such as: sporting events, concerts, webcasts, news, educational events, etc...

Step 1

When the download has completed, double-click the installer file to start the InstallShield wizard following the on-screen instructions;

Once the installer has completed:
- Launch Flash Media Encoder
- Select “Encoding Options” section; This panel includes options for adjusting video, audio, and output settings
- Preset: select "Custom"
- Flag “Video” and/or “Audio” devices settings (if you need to stream only audio content, flag “Audio” and disable “Video”)

If no capture device is connected to the system when you start the application, Video and Audio are deselected in the Encoding Options panel and encoding options are grayed out.
To activate the options, connect a device and Flag again Video and/or Audio Devices settings

Step 2

Video Settings:
- Only for Video streaming accounts: Select the video source you would like to stream under the 'Device' parameter;
The menu lists any video devices that are attached to the system (Capture Card, Camera, Camcorder, Webcam, TV Tuner card etc.)
If needed, click on the small icon next to a selected device to configure its settings
- Format: we suggest H.264 to get a better video compression (higher quality with less bandwidth)
- Frame Rate: a value between 25 fps and 30 fps is suggested
- Input Size: native size of your videos (expressed in pixels)
- Flag “Maintain Aspect Ratio”
- Bit Rate: Make your selection based on the bitrate available on your ViaStreaming Flash Media Server account (reported on activation email)

Step 3

Audio Settings:
- Select the audio source you would like to stream under the 'Device' parameter;
The menu lists any audio devices that are attached to the system (SoundCard, Audio Players, Radio Automation software etc.)
If needed, click on the small icon next to a selected device to configure its settings
- Channels: Specifies the channel option, Mono or Stereo.
- Sample Rate: at low bitrate, Mono channel, we suggest sample rate at 22050Hz; for higher bitrates, Stereo channel, select sample rate at 44100Hz
- Bit Rate: Make your selection based on the bitrate available on your ViaStreaming Flash Media Server account;
- Volume: Specifies the input audio volume level

Note for video users: If you selected video bitrate at 200kbps and your account is at 300kbps, audio bitrate must be equal or lower than 100kbps (200kbps+100kbps= 300kbps: your account tot. bitrate)

Step 4

Panel Option: Output
- Panel Options: select “Output”
- Flag “Stream to Flash Media Server”
- FMS URL: rtmp://fl1.viastreaming.net/application (server address and application name must be same as reported on activation email)
- Backup URL : leave blank
- Stream: livestream
- Auto Adjust: sometimes, the rate at which Flash Media Live Encoder streams media to our Flash Media Server exceeds the rate at which your connection can handle the data. By selecting “Auto Adjust” (suggested) settings, Flash Media Live Encoder can automatically balance the video quality to ensure uninterrupted and stable streaming.

Step 5

Connect to server:
- Click on 'Connect' to connect to our Flash Media relay server. If Flash Media Encoder is unable to connect to the server, please check your 'FMS URL' address.
- Click on green 'Start' button to start streaming your video and/or audio source to your account.

Once you have the Live Stream setup and it's pushing live streams to the our Flash Media relay server, in order to publish your live audio and/or video content on your website, you can generate a flash player code using our embed player generator (inside your Administration Panel > “Tools” section)
